About Breakthrough Fitness MN

Everyone has the power to become the strongest version of themselves, but sometimes you need a little help getting there. Our experienced trainers will help you develop techniques that will improve your confidence and quality of life. Whether you are looking to manage a chronic illness or recover from an injury, get in shape and build muscle, or increase your endurance, we have the tools to help you reach your goals. 

Morgan Maley started Breakthrough Fitness MN in the spring of 2023 out of her passion an belief that strength training is for everyone regardless of where they are at in life. Morgan has worked with clients who have had severe injuries looking to recover, as well as those suffering from chronic illnesses. Her goal is to help you become the strongest version of yourself.

Breakthrough Fitness MN is conveniently located in Minneapolis, MN. In addition to a wonderful space to train in, they also specialize in virtual training sessions.

Meet Morgan Maley, Owner of Breakthrough Fitness MN

Hello! I started Breakthrough Fitness because of my passion and belief that strength training can be for everyone!

I grew up very active playing sports and getting outside with my family so choosing a degree where I could help others be active seemed like an easy choice! I have my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport Science and minor in Nutrition from UW-La Crosse and also hold the NSCA-CSCS certification. I had a moment while obtaining my degree where I realized I wanted to help people prevent injuries and health conditions if I could and help make those issues less noticeable if they happened. My overall goal is to make everyone feel confident in their bodies - inside and out! I believe in using research to back our training programs but also personalizing every person’s program to make it work for them. My philosophy is “I’m the expert at what your body should be doing and you’re the expert on your body. Let’s work together to come up with the best solution for you!” I also have a passion for learning about all other types of “health” care and love working with other practitioners of all different backgrounds! 

In my free time, I love spending time with friends and family (I’m a true extravert!). I also love to travel and married my husband, Matt, on the beach in Punta Cana in 2022. We welcomed our  first daughter in October of 2023 and have a mini goldendoodle, Nala, who keeps us very busy! We spend a lot of time visiting family in Wisconsin and watching Wisconsin sports! In my downtime, I enjoy reading and DIY projects! 

Meet Matthew Lerch

Personal Trainer

Hi there! I first became passionate about health and fitness when I took my first strength and conditioning course in college. My professor taught the class with so much excitement that it only took me a few months to realize that I wanted to become a strength and conditioning coach. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology at The College of St. Scholastica and my master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science at The University of Minnesota. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the NSCA. I am absolutely fascinated with what the human body can do, and I want to safely and effectively assist others in pushing their bodies limits. When I first met Morgan, I could tell that she was highly knowledgeable, goal focused, and driven and that is why I joined Breakthrough Fitness. I am excited to bring 2 years of training experience and my athletic background to Breakthrough Fitness to increase your self-efficacy and strength! 

When I am not training clients, I love to be outside. I love camping, fishing, hanging out with friends and family, playing games, and completing jigsaw puzzles. My wife and I have an Australian Shepherd poodle mix named Libby that loves to run and play. If I am not strength training, I often will sign up for unique 5ks or other races to keep active.
