At Breakthrough Fitness, we love working with women in any age group, but we tend to work with a fair number of women in their who are approaching middle age or older. It's wonderful to see more and more research highlighting the benefits of strength training for different age groups, especially concerning perimenopause and menopause. As a personal trainer specializing in strength training, I'm thrilled to see this trend, but I also notice concerns about workout intensity.
We focus on high-intensity, low-volume workouts that challenge our clients while promoting cardiovascular fitness and flexibility. This approach is particularly important for middle-aged women, especially as they navigate perimenopause and menopause.
Strength training is essential for improving physical health and overall well-being. However, there's a misconception that high-intensity workouts can be too intense. It's important to balance exercise with downtime, such as yoga or simply relaxing at home. Managing cortisol levels is crucial, especially as many middle-aged women deal with increased stress.
I wanted to address this topic because valuable information is available, alongside some misinformation. It's vital to support our clients on their journey. In my eight years of experience, I have seen many clients greatly improve their well-being through strength training, often feeling better after just a few months.
If you have questions about strength training or how to balance intensity with relaxation, feel free to reach out to us at Breakthrough Fitness. We're here to help!
