Are you doing yard work this fall season? We have three tips for you:
1. Strengthen your torso muscles before tackling yard work. Focus on your lower back, abdominals, obliques, and all the supportive muscles through strength training.
2. When you schedule your yard work, ease into the activity and remember to take breaks throughout the day. It’s normal to feel sore if you haven’t raked leaves all year and suddenly find yourself spending eight hours raking, bending over, and bagging leaves. This can be tough on your body, so try to spread the work out.
3. At the end of the day, take some time to stretch. After a hard day’s work, it might feel like a hassle to add more tasks, but doing some gentle stretches for your glutes, hamstrings, and quadriceps can significantly reduce soreness after a busy day of yard work.
I encourage you to try out these three tips, and I’d love to hear how they work for you! Video made with Clipchamp!
