Is Exercise Order Important for Strength Training

Many people have been asking us whether exercise order is essential, so let's discuss it.

When organizing your workout, it's important to prioritize exercises that engage the largest muscle groups before moving on to smaller muscles. For instance, if you're working on your chest, you should start with compound movements like the chest press or bench press. After that, you can target smaller muscle groups, such as the triceps, which are secondary to the larger pectoral muscles.

This approach applies to both upper and lower body workouts, depending on the areas you are targeting. Additionally, when considering metabolic demand, some research suggests that you should always begin with larger, lower body movements, like the leg press, as these exercises engage more significant lower body muscles and create the highest metabolic demand. This will ultimately provide you with the best results for your effort in a single exercise.
